SLAP Repair

Phase 1: 0-4 Weeks

  • Sling at all times except for hygiene/exercises
  • ROM: up to the ‘salute position’ only
  • Pendulum exercises and Codman’s only until 4 weeks post-op

Phase 2: 4 Weeks – 8 Weeks

  • Wean from sling
  • ROM: increase as tolerated
  • Strengthening: begin isometrics with theraband, prone extension hangs
  • Begin scapular stabilization exercises, gentile joint mobilization
  • Avoid active biceps exercises and forceful extension

Phase 3: 8 Weeks – 3 Months

  • ROM: progress to full ROM w/o discomfort
  • Strengthening: advance theraband exercises with weights
  • Begin upper body ergometer

Phase 4: 3 Months+

  • Begin sport specific activities, increase joint velocity of motion
  • Transition to home exercise program
